This three story, 40,000 sq ft, steel frame building is currently under construction. The lateral force resisting system consists of Buckling Restrained Braced Frames, which are extremely efficient, and allowed us to limit their number to 5 total in the entire building. Steel connections in the two stairwells are exposed, and we designed them to aesthetically enhance the spaces. Structural steel, cold-formed steel, and steel bar-joists were used where appropriate to enhance the design whithout compromising economy.
